Clickbank…we love ‘em when they pay us, we hate ‘em when they do idiotic, lame-brained things. Clickbank is kind of like the Yahoo! of affiliate marketing…for they’ve got potential, but they do inexplicably stupid things that seem designed to destroy them. Like Yahoo! it sometimes seems like they’ve got the “stupid dildo” so deeply embedded in their ass, that they’ve never be able to pry it out.
So, here is the countdown of the 17 reasons why Clickbank sucks ass:
1. They Just Now Discovered Analytics
How long was Clickbank in existence before they discovered that affiliates and publishers might care about metrics? Like, a decade or so?
2. Clickbank’s Analytics are Crude and Uninformative
So they have analytics now. But you don’t know what the Hell is going on.
3. Default $100 Payment Threshold
A payment threshold is the amount you need to reach before…they will pay you. Clickbank has it automatically set to $100. Payment thresholds are an industry standard. But $100 is too high to start new Clickbankers off; what a sour honeymoon! Also, other problems with the threshold we will see later.
4. Simple Changes Maddeningly Hard to Do
So, I just wanted to change my physical address. Normally, in the affiliate world, who gives a shit about mailing addresses because payments come by direct deposit. But because Clickbank has never heard of ACH, checks come in the mail. I make the address request. Then, I must verify an e-mail that was sent to me…fine, that’s normal. But then I get this:
Gee whiz, I didn’t know I was logged into a different account. Sure doesn’t look like it on my browser.
5. Direct Deposit Exceedingly Difficult to Get
Direct deposit is available for Portugal…but not for the United States. What gives?
