Internet marketing produces various types of marketers. Through my dealings with clients in the industry, I have classified them into two types, The Strategizer and The Merchant. Here we focus on this most aggressive type of marketer out there: the one who is most adept at hacking through the wild jungle of online marketing: The Strategizer.
The key feature about The Strategizer type is that he or she is what I call “product agnostic,” meaning that they couldn’t care less what product they are promoting, as long as it is profitable.
This is not to say that they will promote everything. We all have our foibles and likes and dislikes. Most online marketers stay away from products in the adult niche. Other niches are just plain sleazy or boring: dating, sex aids, herbal remedies, etc. The flip side is true, too. The Strategizer type has his or her own likes, too, and may gravitate to them.
But the main idea is that The Strategizer is “playing the game.” To them, online marketing is like playing the odds at a Vegas casino. They set up certain factors that they believe will be advantageous, then they pull press the button, and wait to see if it’s a jackpot.
The Strategizer is more interested in the process of online marketing, than in the product itself. For that reason, most Strategizer types are affiliate marketers. The advantage of being an affiliate is that they don’t have to dirty their hands with product issues. They promote, they sell, they collect their commission, and then the move on.
The Strategizer is usually technically savvy. At the very minimum, they know how to code a website in basic html and css; write basic sales pages and landing pages; set up an autoresponder; set up and maintain web hosting; register domain names. But most Strategizers can take it even further, digging into programming code and dealing the finest details. That’s not to say that Strategizers actually do all of this manually: the more successful Strategizers hire out the work. Why? They’re too busy making money to spend their time coding websites and writing landing pages.
