Traffic from Long-Tail Keywords

The concept behind getting traffic from long-tail keywords is this:

Generate posts or articles, each revolving around a keyword that isn’t searched for very often.  So, instead of publishing an article about “replacement windows” (not a long-tail keyword), you would publish an article about “replacement window installation in buffalo, new york.”

The catch?  You don’t get a lot of clicks from “replacement window installation in buffalo, new york.”

Long-Tail Keywords:  the Accrual Method

Long-tail keywords are not sexy.  They are not Google-page-one-viagra stuff.

Instead, it’s all about accuing a lot of traffic out of lots of low-click keywords.  It only works when you spew out a LOT of long-tail keyword posts or articles.

Keyword Generators

This is where something like Keyword Elite comes in handy.  Generally, I think that Google AdWords’ Keyword Tool is just as good (or better) than Keyword Elite at generating keywords.

But Keyword Elite is better at spewing out keywords by the thousands from multiple search engine sources, as well as from meta data.

Resources

The concept of long-tail keyword marketing has been around at least since 2005.  For a good explanation, see Marketing Hub’s Long Tail Versus Short Tail Keywords article.
